The main library entrance is on the ground floor. There are secure glass gates opened with a proximity card reader. The library currently has an information sign in place to request that wheelchair users call for assistance using the intercom - this is because the gates close quickly and have caused problems for visitors in the past. The intercom is on the wall just before the security gates and is 140 cm high. Staff will take people into the library through the office.
For those able to use the security gates these have a clear width of 90 cm. There are no contrasting markings on the gates. After the gates there is a doorway on the right which has a clear width of 75 cm. This takes you into the library reception area and enquiry desk.
There is an additional entrance into the library on the first floor, which can be reached by lift or stairs. There is a secure, powered, door into the first floor reading room of the library. This is opened with a proximity card reader which is 109 cm high. The door has a clear width of 80 cm.
